I am looking to buy a cruise around Dec 26th or 27th from Miami - you say to book the flight 8 weeks in advance. If I buy the flight now, should I also buy the cruise now or is it better to wait until closer to purchase the cruise?

Hi Todd,
Just to be clear, a few months in advance is a very general rule of thumb. There are no hard and fast rules that apply to airfare prices, everywhere, all the time.
And when it comes to *anything* anywhere near Christmas (Dec 20 to Jan 5), the prices tend to start off expensive and stay that way. It's the one time of year when airlines really don't need to offer lower prices to fill up their planes.
Cruises will be the same way, anything around Christmas likely isn't going to have any great discounts, ever. There's just too much demand.
When it comes to Christmas, the best answer to 'When is the best time to purchase for a good price?' might very well be 'never'.
