Is it worth it to travel between Dec 27 to Jan 2 if you're looking for a deal? Are there typically any deals at all? Have people found really good deals during this time? I'm just wondering because I've got the time off for the first time in a long time and would look at going somewhere, almost anywhere assuming it is a good deal.

The short answer is no, there are never any deals. Well, almost never.
There are the occasional freak deals that show up for New Years travel, but that date period generally has the second lowest chance of the year of a deal occurring. The lowest chance would be anything that involves over Christmas.
When a deal occurs that's valid over Christmas or New Years I always try to point it out, because it makes the deal even more unusual or special.
