I went to YVR to San Juan, PR, then took a side trip to St Lucia from San Juan on LIAT airline. Nice little airline. You might want to check them out if you haven't already.

Check prices to Barbados (red eye to Toronto then morning flight to Barbados) and then book Caribbean Star or LIAT airline to St. Lucia. We've done it before for about $1400 pp round trip.

Travelling to St Lucia on a Budget

If you're looking to travel to St Lucia without spending 40 hours in transit or breaking the bank with a $4000 budget, there are definitely options available to you. As someone who has visited St Lucia on a budget, I can offer some tips and advice to help you plan your trip without sacrificing comfort or experiences.

1. Look for Direct Flights

One way to reduce travel time is to look for direct flights to St Lucia. While direct flights may be slightly more expensive than connecting flights, they can save you hours of travel time and make your journey more comfortable.

2. Consider Off-Peak Travel Dates

Travelling during off-peak seasons can help you save money on flights and accommodations. St Lucia is a popular destination during the winter months, so consider visiting during the shoulder seasons to take advantage of lower prices.

3. Explore Budget Accommodation Options

There are plenty of budget-friendly accommodation options in St Lucia, including guesthouses, hostels, and Airbnb rentals. By choosing to stay in one of these options instead of a luxury resort, you can save a significant amount of money without compromising on comfort.

4. Utilize Public Transportation

Instead of renting a car or relying on expensive taxis, consider using public transportation to get around the island. St Lucia has a reliable bus system that can take you to popular tourist destinations at a fraction of the cost.

5. Take Advantage of Free Activities

St Lucia is known for its stunning natural beauty, and there are plenty of free activities to enjoy on the island. Hike the Pitons, relax on the beach, or explore the local markets without spending a dime.

By following these tips and being mindful of your budget, you can have a memorable and affordable trip to St Lucia without spending 40 hours in transit or $4000.
