The Pod Hotel time square, is affordable. Tiny rooms, but you are only sleeping there. The time square location has a private washroom in the rooms. I think the other pod hotels may be shared washrooms, so watch for that when booking.

Robin Lacroix Pod 51 Hotel had a private bathroom. Excellent location. Away from hustle and bustle of Times Square but still walking distance to everything. Great roof top patio! (See photo)
If you want to splurge a little and have Marriott points, stay at the Marriott Renaissance Midtown and ask for a high floor skyline view. Spectacular!
Have fun!
Susan
Stay close to the subway, you don’t need to stay near Times Square
Robbin
Susan we stayed @ the Pod Hotel on Lexington and 51st Avenue. There’s a subway station right there!

I stayed at the Artezan Hotel in the financial district. Extremely close to the subway, easy walking to a bunch of things and super comfortable. Reasonably priced for manhattan too https://www.artezenhotel.com/

Nobleden in Little Italy / Chinatown, between mott and mulberry on Grand. No resort fees, new and has a beautiful rooftop balcony.

I stayed at the EVEN Hotel Times Square South. It is part of the IHG chain. Not really on Times Square, but the subway is a few steps away. It is modern and funky and I really enjoyed staying there.

The Belvedere is in a great location, a block and a half from time square, subway right around the corner and right by the theatre district. It usually is priced better than most. We’ve stayed there three of four trips to NYC.

Ameritania is perfectly located! Away from the busyness of tines square but an easy walk. Also an easy walk to central park. We stayed there in 2022 and loved it. Also stayed at park central in 2017 but it was crazy expensive.
James
The Financial District has some good, reasonably priced, hotels and doesn’t have the stupidity of Times Square, is close to the WTC and Oculus station, Battery Park, Brooklyn Bridge, etc
Gwen
Did you mention your daughter's age? Museum of the City of New York -political but funky. UCB . Comedy Club -several locations. Free feŕry to Staten Island gives a good view of the Statue of Liberty. Tenement Museum tours and talks. Bike Tour of the City -freaky scary but fun.
Brittney
We stayed one block off Times Square and it was a great location
Chelsey
We always stay in New Jersey! Lots of water taxis, or public transit to hop over to Manhattan!
Robbin
I stayed @ The Pod too. But it’s not affordable. Back in 2011 I paid $300/night for bunk beds and shared bathrooms!
In 2023 my brother went with his wife and family (high school age girls). They stayed @ the YMCA and loved it! It was located by Central Park. There was a Whole Foods right there! Nice to have a swimming pool and steam available after lots of exploring.
I’ve been to Manhattan twice and loved it. Me and my daughter or niece wrote up a Wish List and did it all! We bought a subway pass 1st night there and rode it 99% of the time. 1st time I used my iPod for subway trips! Theeeee best thing I did was on our 2nd trip. I booked a Walking Tour. We met @ Financial District (the big bulls) “Free By The Foot?” Something like that. You gotta look this up!!!!
We went to Met Art Gallery; to Top of the Rock and MoMa. Went to Dr. Oz Show (free tickets) Went to Conan O’Brien Show (free). Carnegie Hall tickets $26.50!! You can book behind scenes tour or see performance. We did a performance. Walk the Brooklyn
Bridge (free); ride Staten Island Ferry (close up of Statue of Liberty…free)
My daughter booked a Shopping Tour! There’s every kind of tour
She’s since been 3 more times.
There’s so much to do and see in NY! I want to go back
. It can be very pricey or very affordable. Have a wonderful time
Trista
We stayed at the holiday Inn in Brooklyn (indoor pool for the kids) very easy to navigate the subways!
Christin
We stayed in New Jersey and took the bus into NYC. Quite reasonable.

Heading to NYC with My Daughter: Affordable Accommodation Recommendations
Traveling to New York City with your daughter can be an exciting adventure, but finding affordable accommodation in such a bustling city can be a challenge. Here are some recommendations that may help you find a budget-friendly place to stay:
1. Airbnb
Airbnb offers a wide range of accommodation options in NYC, from private rooms to entire apartments. You can filter your search by price, location, and amenities to find the perfect place for you and your daughter. Plus, staying in an Airbnb can give you a more local experience of the city.
2. Hostels
If you're looking for a budget-friendly option, consider staying in a hostel. There are many hostels in NYC that offer affordable dormitory-style rooms or private rooms for families. Hostels are a great way to meet other travelers and save money on accommodation.
3. Budget Hotels
There are also many budget hotels in NYC that offer affordable rates for travelers. Look for hotels in neighborhoods like Queens, Brooklyn, or the Upper West Side for more budget-friendly options. Keep in mind that prices may vary depending on the time of year and availability.
4. Vacation Rentals
You can also consider booking a vacation rental through websites like VRBO or HomeAway. These platforms offer a variety of rental options, from cozy apartments to spacious houses, that may be more affordable than traditional hotels.
5. Consider Location
When choosing accommodation, consider the location and transportation options. Staying in neighborhoods like Midtown or Times Square may be more convenient but also more expensive. Look for accommodations near subway stations or bus stops for easy access to the city's attractions.
Overall, finding affordable accommodation in NYC may require some research and flexibility, but with the right planning, you can find a place that fits your budget and needs. Have a wonderful trip with your daughter!
