Following as I am going in October. Do you have any recommendations for tours/places to go? Thank you.
Ken
Stay in the Old Town in a Casa Particulares (basically air bnb) and stay with the real people of Cuba. Wonderful experience.... Just don't expect 5 star. Split between Varadero and Havana on 2 sites...you won't be disappointed.
The resort hotels along that peninsula are nice, but you could be anywhere in the world so why waste time going to Cuba?
Pancho
It depends on what you want to be close to the strip or the coast
Apryl
I think the coast. May go to the strip a time or two
Pancho
Apryl Brunner agua azules is good
Pancho
Be live resort

We have been 3 times. My favourite resort was the Melia Varadero. The staff were the BEST. The food was fantastic. The beach is incredible and more private then any of the others. The rooms are nice. It has a fantastic juice bar!
The only thing it was missing is a swim up bar. It had a bar RIGHT beside the pool, but not in the pool.
Apryl
Thank you for the info. Did you stay at any other resorts
Crystal
yes. We have stayed at the Roc Barlovento and in Jan we stayed at The Grande Memories Varadero.
Roc Barlovento was a crappy resort, but had an excellent location!
Grande Memories was nice, but really big! They also didn’t have slushee drinks!!! The beach was packed! It didn’t have great food.

do not stay at the starfish varadero! No power in the buffet the first night we stayed there- everyone used there phone lights to see what food there was. No running water to half the rooms for 3 nights and the ones that did have water were cold.
Some lovely looking alternates along the stretch thoug

Do not go to Muthu playa in Varadero. We called it a muthu mistake. Poor service, raw food, bad vine and disrespectful staff. Pay extra and go to mexico
Krista
We stayed at the Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa. It was 18+ and very nice. As for tours/trips, our favorite was a day tour to Havana. Havana is an interesting city and we wished we had spent more time there.

We've stayed several times and have always loved The Blau Varadero, all the rooms face the ocean and its on such a beautiful part of the beach!
Johanna
We stayed in Barcelo Sol y Mar and it was ok. Food was ok. Good activities. Beach is right there. Tour to playa Coco was awesome, and a tour with lunch to Havana, visiting a military building and a market was great
Selena
I’ve started at 4 of the high end resorts and my favourite was the Iberostar Varadero.

Try benys b&b Cheap, a block from the beach (not even) and they are delightful and speak English. Rooms like in a deluxe hotel.
