They have really great schools in Antigua Guatemala!!
Bradie
Wendy I second this or San Pedro La Laguna, Guatemala. Guatemala is the best place to learn, neutral accent and lovely people.
Dan
Wendy I agree
Jocelyn
while travelling Guatemala years ago, we saw people sitting outdoors at little desks overlooking Lake Atitilan learning Spanish. It’s a lovely place, and I’ve always imagined returning to do just that. To get there, we had the traditional adventure of the chicken bus! A must do!
Mecoh
Wendy I’ve taken them in Guatemala and loved it
Christie
Art Thomson, so you have any advice?

I did mine in Costa Rica a while back and it was great. I can't remember the name of the school but I went to school Mon-Thurs and lived with a spanish family. The schedule was great because I could also travel!
Regina
I also did mine in Costa Rica. It's in Liberia on the Pacific coast. The beach is literally an hour bus ride away and only costs a couple of dollars. Classes run Monday to Friday 8am-12pm. I learned so much.
The owner is
Bethany Kirk and the school is called Instituto Estelar Bilingue.
Regina
I also did mine by immersion living with a local family. I've been twice and spent a total of 6 weeks
Marcia
I live in Costa Rica...Nosara Spanish Institute, owner is Broc Glendinning. It’s a surf town full of yogis, if you’re into that sort of thing.
Susan
Another for Costa Rica, through Intercultura School. They have a location in Heredia and one in Playa Samara, on the Pacific coast. Great experience!

Quetzaltenango, Guatemala. A university town in the NW. The cost of a private tutor is more affordable than taking group classes elsewhere. I haven't done so, but know others who have and they loved it. I studied group lessons for three weeks in Guanajuato, Mexico (You fly into Leon). It's a fantastic little city.
Tina
Cathy I have been to Guanajuato. It’s a beautiful city. We’re there options to stay with a family like a homestay program?
Cathy
I would think so but I'm not sure. I stayed on Sangre de Cristo in the core a five minute walk to a few schools.
Roxanne
These all sound great. Would love to do this some day!!

Antigua or Quetzaltenango in Guatemala! So beautiful!!!
Dawn
I’ve done one in Antigua, Guatemala, which was great, and also in Cuernavaca, Mexico (about 1 hour outside of Mexico City: school called ASLI). I would recommend both as they were very reasonably priced, had homestays, and great Spanish lessons.
Carolyn
I had a friend that also did one in Antigua, Guatemala. She enjoyed it plus Antigua is also a beautiful place to be.
Nadine
Nicaragua is often a place over looked, but is a great, safe place now.
Fabiola
Guacamaya school in Copan Ruins, Honduras. They get you accommodation and you’ll fall in love of that beautiful magical town and it’s weather
Rhonda
A friend of mine got a masters in Spanish in Salamanca Spain. Let he know if you want more info and I'll ask him.
Terry
Diverbo does immersion vacations in Spain.
Carly
I was in Medellin, Colombia until this morning and TONS of people I met were taking classes at Toucan Spanish School in El Poblado. Everyone spoke highly of the experience. The neighborhood is awesome for restaurants, bars and nightlife, and Medellin has lots of stuff to do and lots of day trip opportunities.
