A friend and I have 48 hours in Manhattan next week, any suggestions on what to see/where to eat or things to skip?

Central Park, and going to Greenwich Village and seeing the “Friends” buildings were some of my faves. Times Square was crazy. We went last December so the Rockefeller tree and the light show on Sak’s building were major highlights.

I'll have to add Greenwich Village to the list!

9/11 Memorial is a must, but keep in mind this will eat up 3-4 hours of your day. Statue of Liberty cruise is nice. You can do a quick pass through Times Square and Rockefeller. I would skip Empire State Building and the Stock Market area if you have limited time. Cycling through Central Park is awesome, but give yourself 2 hours.

Cycling through Central Park is one of the things on our list. Thanks for the heads up on things that maybe okay to save for next time.

Bikes were about $40 each for 2 hours, and you can rent them right near the entrances to the park from sidewalk sales guys.

1)Los tacos no. 1 in Chelsea market - best damn tacos I've very had. Especially the quesadilla e special with either the chicken or pork.
2)Cafe Cluny - cute little French cafe. Always seems to have celebrities at night.
3)Momofuku and or Ippudo - fantastic ramen and bao at both locations. I like momofuku a little more but they're both delicious.
4)Buvette - super cute French place that's amazing for brunch. Line ups are crazy and all but I thought it was worth it.
5)Minetta Tavern - reminds me of an old school cocktail bar. In the NYU district amongst the bars. Looks like a dingy bar from the outside but when you step in past the velvet curtain it's this old school looking restaurant. The cocktail with the Titos vodka and grapefruit was way too easy to drink. Loved their bone marrow, burger, and soufflé.
6) zabars - a Jewish deli uptown that seriously has the best damn coffee beans I've ever had. I get the Vienna roast. My friend and I bought 4 1lb bags each when we last went. Then I get it shipped to my family in the states before I visit so I make sure I'm always stocked up.
Have fun and enjoy! NYC is an amazing place.

I knew what I wanted to do so I used public transit and went where I wanted. There are lots of hop on hop off tours which would get you to all of the main sites, and you can decide what you want to see. I really liked the 9/11 memorial but that was my primary reason for going. If you want a free way to go by the Statue of Liberty, take the Staten Island ferry.

Walking tours are OmaZing! Get a ticket for Carnegie Hall - only $26.50, just so you can say you were there
. I really liked Top of the Rock and MoMA (buy as a pkg). Line up a Designer Shopping Tour! They’ll take good care of you. Real NY experience. So many awesome things to do. Walk. Walk, walk. OmaZing landmarks on every other street

Sherilyn my daughter googled it. They take small groups of approximately 6 to the Fashion District, to local up n coming Designers. She loved it. One is purses, jewelry, clothing of all kinds. The tour cost $75.00. Any kind of tour, it’s there..... movie sets. But the shopping, she was pleased.
