How to choose the best private airport transfer option in Riviera Maya?

Question:
Humans say...
Alishea
Rent a car! We really enjoyed having the freedom of a car and felt totally safe driving there.
Nicola
Alishea Morrison that’s also an option
Alice
Alishea Morrison keep in mind that if you rent a car and are in an accident (whether you were in the wrong or not!) one of you will not be able to leave Mexico until all claims are settled.
Tracy
Was it cheaper to book flights and hotel separately?
Nicola
Tracy yeah it did work out cheaper. We’re staying at Barcelo Maya Beach so signed you for a free account with them. We got a really good room rate, free wifi and discounts to use at the resort. The bonus at the time we booked was we didn’t have to pay right away. Plus for the flights we had companion vouchers and westjet dollars to use so for us it was a win win

I use CARM - they are fantastic and reasonable and offer private cars . They have a site and you can email them directly from there
Brandee
We used USA Transfers and had great experiences, really friendly drivers who were happy to engage us in conversation and answer all of our questions.(all very fluent in English which was nice!), . Easy to book online, I highly recommend them
Anne
Canada Transfers is really good, we have used them a few times, you can check out their prices online depending on which hotel you are staying at.
Kt
Anne yes, they are great. Super happy with them.

They don't do a shared shuttle at all do they?
Elizabet
we use the ADO bus. its not private, but really inexpensive, reliable and comfortable. buy the tickets online before you head out!
Charlene
Best day transfers are amazing! It’s the company westjet vacations uses and they are super friendly.
Cheryl
Charlene we used Best Day in November and they were friendly and very good!
Breanne
We book straight thru the cancun airport website. Great service - used 3 times now
Sherry
Entertainment plus USA transfers. Owner is Edmontonian
Shirley
Be careful. Ask how hotels they drop at. We were in a van and only 1 other family with us. Took 2 hours to get to our resort from the hotel. So some busses etc that take people for many resorts...can take longer.
Cyrena
Just use a cab. Keeps it simple.
Sarah
Cyrena Corbett how much should a can be from the air port to Cancún?
Darren
Cab works great
Erin
Taxi ... just ask price before you get in.
Reid
Canada Transfers. Private van directly to your hotel, no stops. And you can preorder cervaza for the ride.

Lori

Susan
Reid we have used them at least 10 times. I totally agree with you.
Deborah
I have always used the public transport coaches directly from airport ... cheap & reliable. Buy my ticket at airport desk and get on!
Jenn
Tim Tse
Taunia
I would just hop in a cab.
Andrea
Canadatransfers - I use them regularly and you can pre-purchase $1 coronas!!
Cathy
Agreed
Jenni
Agreed. I used to live there and used this service many times. Also recommended to my airbnb guests.
Josie
Nicola we just returned from there and it felt safer going w the hotel. The local cabbies can charge you whatever and who knows where you end up !
Ed
We used canadatransfers. Two
Susie
Canada Transfers is amazing , you can prepay online or cash at airport. They will wait for you with a sign and cold towels.
You can also order a cooler of snacks and drinks, it’s a bit of a ride!
I don’t use the free buses anymore!
Susan
Canada Transfers or Happy Shuttle is what we used
Never any issues
Lucille
We used CanadaTransfers in December. It was about $180 for both ways. Private shuttle. They also had beers and sunscreen ready for us in the van!
Judy
MeetPlaya Transfers are awesome. Very new and clean vehicles. Drivers are great. If you want beers they can supply them or they will make a stop at a nearby 7-11 where you can buy what you want. They were waiting for us at the airport with a sign and then when they picked us up from the hotel they were punctual. Would definitely use them again.
Jenifer
Cab or Uber.
Tracy
What hotel are you staying at? A taxi will run you approx 120usd one way. To the airport is around $50usd. Many of the hotel transfer companies are much cheaper
Cyrena
Tracy weird last time i went 3 month ago in nov.
Casian
Happy Shuttle is fantastic and their prices are great! You can pre-order drinks and snacks for your trips with them. I have used them several times and I'm impressed.
Donna
Canada Transfers are the best!!! Pre order Coronas $1 a beer.
Colleen
Donna yep!! We always use them. Good company.
Kay
Donna I used them too. I like how you can preorder how many beers, water, ect you want on the trip.
Brad
Canada transfers or USA transfers both were great.
Kanan
How much is hotel and flights?
Karen
I have used Paradise Transfers many times they are great! About $120
Nicola
Thanks so much everyone for all your recommendations, it’s greatly appreciated
Anand
Hello Nicola, just wanted to know how did you book the hotel ? Did you get good offer ?
Nicola
Hi Anand we’re staying at Barcelo Maya Beach and I booked using the number on the Barcelo website, but first I registered for an account so you get more savings. Was a really good offer compared to what I was finding online. I booked in October 2019 for February 2020, they also offer a price guarantee so if you find it cheaper after you book they will price match it. Only thing to factor in your calculation is that the hotel charge in USD. But it still worked out cheaper for us doing it this way
Kara
Canada transfers were great

Hi everyone, we're travelling to Riviera Maya in February, we booked our hotel and flights separately so looking at private airport transfers to the hotel. The hotel do offer them for an additional charge, I was just wondering if anyone has used and could recommend any other transportation companies before I book with the hotel.
