Some will work; some won't. We actually bought a cheap serviceable one there and we have it for Europe travel.

Thanks. You bought a cheap universal plug or the appliances themselves?

The appliance.

We had a converter from AMA and it blew with the straight iron plugged into it. You'll need something better.

We ended up getting one in a hardware store for 2 euros.

Mine that I bought this year worked fine for my blow dryer curling iron and flat iron.

Maybe I should return my inverter then!
we had no luck with them for anything other than small electronics

I went to Italy a couple months ago. I took a flat iron with a European plug on it. Most hotels have hair dryers. I wouldn't trust using a converter because the voltage difference could destroy your appliances. If you're interested, I am selling the flat iron.

My wife's good flat iron wouldn't work properly with a universal plug. I'd highly recommend buying one over there. She bought one and we take it on all of our European trips.

Take a blow dryer and flat iron that have dual voltage. Then you just need the plug adaptor. That's what I did and they both worked great. Do not use a convertor with our voltage. It will just fry your appliances the first time.

Just buy a cheap blow dryer / flat iron when your there! I had brought two different converters and then crapped out and ended up just buying a flat iron there

Some blow dryers have a switch for the different ampage, but the iron probably doesn't. You might be able to get a better converter, if you want.

Ensure that your blow dryer/straightening iron are dual voltage. That is the only way mine worked. I had to have dual voltage AND the euro converter

Wish I knew this before I went, keep the hair natural for weeks!

Go to ama they're super cheap even if you aren't a member. You will need it to plug them in.

You can't use converter with ceramic flat irons like a CHI. It will wreck it and not work then you come back!

Heading to Spain? Here's what you need to know about using universal converters

If you're heading to Spain and planning to bring your flat iron, blow dryer, or any other electrical devices that require a converter, you may be wondering if your universal converter will work in Spain. The good news is that most universal converters are designed to work in a variety of countries, including Spain.

However, it's important to check the voltage requirements of your devices before plugging them in. Spain operates on a 230V electrical system, which is higher than the standard 120V system used in the United States. Most universal converters are designed to handle a range of voltages, but it's always best to double check to avoid damaging your devices.

If you're unsure about the compatibility of your universal converter with Spanish outlets, it's a good idea to invest in a specific converter or adapter designed for use in Spain. These can be easily found at electronics stores or online retailers.

Overall, using a universal converter should work for most devices in Spain, but it's always best to double check the voltage requirements and consider purchasing a specific converter if needed.
