We rented an apartment across from Lokal. Good area and Lokal was a great place for beer, meals and pastries http://lokal-dlouha.ambi.cz/en/

Mgallery old town. It was awesome and got a great deal. Sign up for Le Club Accor awards program and there are often 40% off. Paid 89 cdn a night with breakfast and location was great.

We just stayed in Prague at this airbnb a couple weeks ago and it was great! It is right in the middle of everything, walking distance to the Old Towne which is 5 mins away. It's also just around the corner from the place Lokal which Diane mentioned! Great place for good, cheap food and beer!

Have you heard about youtube's Honest Guide? They have great tips what to do, where to eat, etc. in Prague. https://www.youtube.com/.../UCt7oj318jVQi7vRbc1bNjJA/videos
As for restaurants, I just love Restaurant Pod Věží: http://www.podvezi.com/restaurant-pod-vezi - they also serve lunch specials that are cheaper than regular menus.
As mentioned above, Prague has an excellent public transit system - metro, buses and trams. So you don't have to stay right in the Old town

Tips for Finding Good Local Restaurants
Here are a few tips for finding good local restaurants in Prague:
- Get off the beaten path. The best local restaurants are often located in side streets and away from the main tourist areas.
- Look for places that are popular with locals. If you see a lot of locals eating at a restaurant, it's a good sign that the food is good.
- Ask your hotel concierge for recommendations. Hotel concierges are usually very knowledgeable about the local restaurant scene.
Recommended Local Restaurants
Here are a few recommended local restaurants in Prague:
- U Pinkasů: This traditional Czech restaurant is located in the Old Town and is known for its excellent beer and hearty food.
- Lokál: This modern Czech restaurant has several locations in Prague and is known for its creative dishes and craft beer.
- Naše maso: This butcher shop and restaurant serves up some of the best meat dishes in Prague.
I hope these tips help you have a great time in Prague!

Hi everyone, I’m heading to Prague around the end of August. Does anyone have any recommendations for affordable but descent hotels? Would like to stay in the old town or close to that area. Also looking for some tips for good local restaurants... not the tourist traps! Thanks in advance!
