My husband and are going next May to France and Italy as well and it's the perfect time to go because it's not gonna be too crowded yet and not too hot.

A lot of people has been telling me not to miss Venice, Rome, and Florence. If you like shopping go to Milan. Amalfi coast and Naples is nice as well

May is great. It's not too hot and tourist season is just beginning so you do have to wait in lines for sites but at least not for 3+ hours like in the summer. Rome is fabulous, so much to see. Venice is lovely. I went with friends but thought it would be perfect for a honeymoon. It gives the feeling of small and initmate. It really depends on what you are into. Teh Amalfi coast is breathtaking and cute small little charming towns along the coastline. For something very different a day trip to Pompeii is fab. Ah, I'm jealous now. I want to go back.
