We just booked through this site to travel to Paris for 1 1/2 days and then on to Italy for 3 weeks. Does anyone have recommendations for an itinerary that they would recommend. Any must see suggestions. We are planning to go to Milan, Varrena, Venice , Castellroto, Cinque Terre, Florence, Sienna, Assisi, Orvieto, Rome, Sorrento and Amalfi Coast. It's a lot but this itinerary is suggested by Rick Steve's the guru of European travelling. Would appreciate any suggestions.

If you only have 1 1/2 days in Paris, stay near the Eiffel Tower. I have a wonderful recommendation for airbnb /vrbo in Positano and Rome if you need accommodation. On the Amalfi coast, the Blue Grotto was lovely. The ferry ride is worth it if you are considering that.

The area we stayed in Paris was not the nicest, but the area around the Eiffel Tower was really nice. Our suite was ok and I can give you the info if you like, but I think you can find better.

Between your travels between Milan and Venice, there is Lake called Lake Garda. It is so beautiful. The small town on it, Dezenzono (i think thats how you spell it) is so amazing and peaceful. Highly recommend.
They have a gondola, sailing, beautiful restaurants on the lake.

Rome: please do San Clemente Basilica. Use Citymapper to get around. Also getmyguide for ANY admissions. You can book from your phone standing there and jump the line. You don't actually get a guide but you get in with the group booking and go. Do the Vatican, Colliseum and the Roman Forum/Palatine Hill (Colliseum and RF/P are all included in your ticket!!). Naples is sketchy. So do not spend any significant time there. It was not worth it.

We also did a walking food tour in the Jewish ghetto of Rome. Seemed expensive but was worth every penny!! Buy the Rick steeves tour book: every restaurant suggestion in there was great and the maps and tips and tricks for skipping lines saved us time at the major hot spots in Venice and Florence. Enjoy your trip, our 3 weeks flew by!

On the way to the Amalfi Coast you MUST spend several hours touring Pompeii. It's amazing.

Get google map and pin every site you want to see . It helps to have a GPS map navigating your way around the city /town . You don't need internet while you have this open . I've used it in Venice and it really helped me find my way faster around the places I'm interested in seeing . If you want to take the Gondola in Venice , book with expedia instead . I paid $40 Canadian for 20 min ride instead of the €80 Euro they charged for everyone else . All I did was booked it online , printed the paper and showed it to them . Same thing when I booked the Pisa tower .
Which by the way is on your way going to Cinque Terre. You only need 4hrs max to see the leaning tower and catch your train around 4pm to get to Cinque Terre. There's a baggage deposit you can leave your luggages . They don't allow bags or purses inside the leaning Pisa . If you're staying in Cinque Terre , I highly recommend Manarola or Riomaggiore , both beautiful place and truly magical . Of course , a must do in CT is the famous hike !

Also try the pizza and experience at Bonci (grab a ticket for your # first thing)
