Google artisan markets! We went to local food and art markets that were absolutely lovely.
We also put some money into doing a half day walking tour with Walks of Italy. My husband and I are not huge art buffs but it was absolutely fantastic: 8 people in our group, saw the David, the chapel, walked through the streets learning about the history of the city that we took with us while we walked the streets afterwards. Enriched our trip tremendously!

The Firenze Card is great for museums - includes skip the line, which is a must for the Accademia. I took a great cooking class in Florence too -

I second the card, it is so easy to use and I loved skipping the line. I also popped into smaller venues I may have skipped without it

The museum (THE museum) has great views of the river front when you get to the upper levels near the cafe. There's a street market by the cathedral (the actual cathedral, not the duomo). Cross the river and check out some of the sites on the neglected side as well. I'd also recommend an experience taking public transit (both bus, train, and tram). Grab a walking tour with a local guide first thing so you get a sense of everything with the religious and political centres before you venture out.

Piazzale Michelangelo has a gorgeous panoramic view of the whole city. Beautiful sunset. There are vendors selling beverages and snacks. Sit on the steps and watch the sun go down.

How many days would you say is enough for Florence?
Jen
It was my favourite part of Italy, so as much as you can afford. I'd say at least four and you'll have time to do a wine tour day or pisa then.

I recommend renting a bike and just looking around and going up to piazzale Michelangelo. I suggest getting an electric bike from e bikes Florence. Good prices.
Also check out the central market during the day. There's some amazing pasta for a reasonable price

Must Sees and Dos in Florence
If you're looking for recommendations for things to see and do in Florence, you've come to the right place! Florence is a beautiful city with a rich history and plenty to offer in terms of natural beauty, shopping, food, and art.
Natural Beauty
One of the must-sees in Florence is the Boboli Gardens. These stunning gardens are located behind the Pitti Palace and offer a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. You can wander through the beautifully landscaped grounds and enjoy the views of Florence from the top of the hill.
Open Air Shopping Markets
If you love shopping, be sure to check out the San Lorenzo Market. This bustling market is a great place to pick up souvenirs, leather goods, and local products. You can also visit the Mercato Centrale, a food market located in a beautiful historic building where you can sample some of the best local cuisine.
Food
When it comes to food in Florence, you can't go wrong with trying some traditional Tuscan dishes. Be sure to sample some ribollita (a hearty vegetable soup), bistecca alla fiorentina (a thick T-bone steak), and of course, gelato from one of the many gelaterias around the city.
Art
Florence is known for its art and there are plenty of must-see museums and galleries to visit. The Uffizi Gallery is home to a world-class collection of Renaissance art, including works by Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and Botticelli. You should also visit the Accademia Gallery to see Michelangelo's famous statue of David.
These are just a few of the many things to see and do in Florence. Whether you're interested in natural beauty, shopping, food, or art, Florence has something for everyone. Enjoy your trip!
