One extra thing I like to consider is the tap water. The tap water is potable in PV. This is not the case in many places in Mexico.

Azul beach resort. Went half a dozen times when my girls were little. It’s a smaller boutique hotel but they cater to small kids / babies (strollers, bottle warmers, age appropriate toys, baby food, playpens, ect. all brought to your room.) Food is also the best I’ve had at an all inclusive in Mexico. Highly recommend checking them out:)

Sun, Sand, and Siestas: The Best Mexican Destinations for Your 5-Month-Old

Planning a trip to Mexico with a 5-month-old? Fantastic! Mexico offers beautiful beaches, delicious food, and a vibrant culture. However, traveling with a little one requires extra planning. This post will offer some recommendations for destinations and hotels that cater to families with babies, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable vacation for everyone.

Top City Recommendations:

Riviera Maya:

The Riviera Maya offers calm, clear waters, perfect for dipping little toes. The area is known for its family-friendly resorts, many of which offer cribs, high chairs, and even babysitting services.

  • Hotel Recommendation: Fairmont Mayakoba. This luxurious resort boasts excellent amenities for families, including kids' clubs (though your little one is a bit young!), multiple pools, and spacious suites. They also offer babysitting services, giving parents a chance for a romantic dinner or some much-needed relaxation.
  • Why it's great for babies: Calm beaches, shaded areas, and proximity to family-friendly attractions like Xcaret Eco-Archaeological Park (baby carriers recommended!).

Puerto Vallarta:

Puerto Vallarta is a charming town with a more laid-back atmosphere. The Malecon, a beautiful beachfront promenade, is perfect for strolling with a stroller.

  • Hotel Recommendation: Hotel Mousai. This adults-only hotel might seem like an odd choice, but its sister property, Garza Blanca Preserve Resort & Spa, is incredibly family-friendly and offers access to the same amenities. Garza Blanca provides suites with kitchens, making it easy to prepare baby food. When you need a break, Hotel Mousai offers a sophisticated escape (with babysitting available!).
  • Why it's great for babies: Walkable streets, calm beaches, and a relaxed atmosphere.

San Miguel de Allende:

If you're looking for a cultural experience, San Miguel de Allende is a beautiful colonial city. While it's not a beach destination, it offers a different kind of charm. Consider this option if your baby is a good traveler and you're comfortable navigating cobblestone streets with a stroller.

  • Hotel Recommendation: Rosewood San Miguel de Allende. This luxurious hotel offers beautiful grounds, spacious rooms, and excellent service. Cribs and high chairs are available upon request.
  • Why it's great for babies (with caveats): Beautiful scenery, a slower pace of life, and a chance to experience Mexican culture. However, the cobblestone streets can be challenging with a stroller.

Tips for Traveling with a 5-Month-Old:

  • Pack plenty of diapers, wipes, and formula/breast milk.
  • Bring a comfortable baby carrier.
  • Consider a portable white noise machine for naps.
  • Pack a small first-aid kit with baby essentials.
  • Don't overschedule your itinerary. Babies need downtime!

No matter where you choose to go in Mexico, remember to be flexible and go with the flow. With a little planning, you can have a wonderful and memorable vacation with your little one.
