Where should I stay in Tokyo and Sapporo during my Japan trip?

Looking for any suggestions for an upcoming Japan trip! In Japan from Dec 20-Jan 3. Planning on staying for two nights in Tokyo then spending 26-30 skiing at Niseko then Sapporo. Anyone have suggestions for places to stay/visit? Thanks so much!!

Go to Kyoto and the ancient geisha village of Gion. I highly recommend the Gion at Night walking tour

Maybe try breaking up the days at Niseko with a day at a smaller hill like Rusutsu, to get away from the Aussies at Niseko.
I can also highly recommend the Fresh Powder Apartments if they are available. The owner is a great guy, and you can easily walk from the apartments to the Niseko lift. http://www.tripadvisor.ca/Hotel_Review-g1025639-d674273...
