Granada is my favourite Spanish city with its distinct; Muslim, Christian and Jewish quarters. For good day trips from Granada you can go to the "White Villages" of Andalusia. Beautiful villages perched along the ancient frontier of Christian Spain. They are small, quaint towns that haven't changed much over the centuries and provide great photo opportunities as well as great food! Google "white villages of Spain" to find out more. Good luck. Oh, I can't forget to mention Positano in Italy. It's a lovely cliff side village on the Amalfi Coast. There are other such villages that can be reached by ferry such as Amalfi and the island of Capri. Or if you decide to hang out in the Tuscan countryside I recommend visiting Castiglione d'Orcia. A really small village atop a hill ( I'm noticing a pattern). There's a lovely restaurant that's run by a young couple that does a really great representation of local Tuscan cuisine. It's the only restaurant in the town so it's not hard to find. They also provide a cooking class that'll help you prepare your own meal. Good luck and safe travels!

Rome! Spend a couple days at least there. There is so much to see. So much history. One day just for the Vatican because it is so busy. Pompeii. Plan to spend several hours there. It is so big and there is so much to see.

When I was in Rome the Pope held a service outside on Wednesday mornings so that was the perfect time to explore the Vatican. You can hire a guide outside the gates and join a group with headphones that let you hear your guide. It's a good way to get more out of it.

Barcelona! Love love this city! So much to see and do.

We did the HOHO for one day to get the lay of the land. Then the next couple of days we went back to spend time at places we were interested in exploring. For sure La Sagrada Familia - book your tickets ahead of time on line. La Guell Parc, the waterfront, explore Las Ramblas and the Gothic Quarter. We walked everywhere! It is such a very walkable city.

We were in both Rome & Venice the past 5 days. Rome was amazing but I loved Venice more...such a interesting lively place
Linda
Climb Vesuvius in Naples and Herculaneum is amazing. In Barcelona Parc Guell. Loved Rome, must go back. Not enough time. Pisa is cool.
Liza
Accidental Tourist Pasta Class - they pick you up in Florence and take you to their family home in Tuscany hills.
Sharon
Hotel Oriente in Vico Equense -. It's on the circumVesuviana railway on the bay of Naples, easy access to all the sights (Pompeii, Herculaneum, Amalfi Coast, Capri.) Plus there are lots of guests from YEG including a prof from U of A who takes students there regularly.
Byron
The Alahambra in Granada
Lorraine
Las Ramblas, the main tourist area in Barcelona.

If you like architecture each Spanish city is incredible; the futuristic side of Valencia, Arabs Alhambra in Granada, fifteen century buildings in Sevilla, roman village in Merida, Cartagena or Tarragona, colorfull Barcelona...each city is totally different from the other, food included
Monica
Agree Rome and Venice are easy to visit and have a lot to see and do. Depending how long you're going, you could add some hill side towns in Tuscany.
