Looking for recommendations for hotel/airbnb in rome, italy for this aug.

We stayed at the Star of Rome B&B and they were great. Close enough to walk to the Vatican, they had a person on 24/7 who spoke English in case you had something happen.
Do NOT book with La Luna Di Roma B&B. They conveniently "lost" our reso/deleted it on their end according to the trip advisor people and then wouldn't answer the phone. I had confirmed twice and when emailed on our way there that same day they told us. They left us with nowhere to stay on a night of a major soccer tourney with few rooms available.

Check out the trendy area of Trastevere. Great cafes, little bars all over and lots of shops and markets. We stayed in an airbnb there for a week during a very hot September...there was A/C too! Walking distance to all of the sights!!

Whatever you book...make sure it has air conditioning because it is VERY HOT in Italy in August. It is when many shopkeepers close their doors and take their family to the beach for their own vacation.

Right near piazza republica. It is an entire apartment etc....fabulous host....ground floor....so great!
And it has AC.

We stayed here. The owner was fantastic. Super helpful, kind and accommodating. Great location to transit and walk to a lot of great places. Her name was Barbara and is was #384199 on vrbo

Monti is a nice neighborhood to stay. Artsy and quiet, cute shops. Near Colosseum.

We stayed at B&B Armona All'Opera about 6 years ago. Great stay and location . If you are going to the Vatican it is definitely worth booking the graben tours with them, you can't see them otherwise

We used getyourguide app for everything in Rome. We got into Vatican just fine. You pay if you want to skip the line though.
